Hand-wash and dry the blade right after use, and never put it in the dishwasher. Apply a thin coat of mineral oil now and then to protect the steel from rust. Hone or sharpen the edge as needed, and store the knife dry in its sheath. Don’t store it in the sheath while the blade or sheath is still damp.
